Milford has come to aviation late in life. After finding out that the young next door neighbor was getting his pilot’s license Milford was eat up with jealousy to the point that at the age of 44 he began flight training. While training he joined the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association for the opportunity to fellowship with pilots. Once they realized that he wasn’t going to go away they made him chapter secretary, then president. Currently he is in partnership with a Cherokee 180, a Starduster Too under construction, and an 80% Complete Midget Mustang is lying neglected in the garage. He has added complex and tailwheel ratings to his license and is currently working on an instrument endorsement. After that the plan is pursue gliders (Gliders, where every landing is an engine out approach!). He says that his biggest aviation thrill so far is getting to ride in EAA’s B-17 Aluminum Overcast.

Charlie Willwerth

Co-Host FlightTime Radio
Saturdays 1PM-2PM
Website: www.flighttimeradio.com

Charlie had a very strong interest in aviation since he was a small kid. He built plastic model and wooden airplanes until he was old enough to build and fly control line airplanes, then moved on to radio control. With an interest in electronics, he even built his own radio control transmitter, receiver and servos. He progressed and began flying the REAL thing in the summer of 1970 and received his private pilot license a short time later. Charlie moved to North Carolina for his work in the early 70′s and joined a group of “Sky Divers” associated with East Carolina University. He spent several years as the club pilot and made over 120 jumps at many different dropzones. Later, Charlie built a Burt Rutan Designed “Long Eze” and is now finishing a J-3 Cub replica. Both of the aircraft were built from plans and raw materials and the help of great friends. Charlie worked in the Aviation industry as an Air Traffic Controller at facilities across the Southeast U. S. (CHS, FAY, TLH, ZJX, JAX, LAL and DAB) and was also a controller at the Sun-N-Fun Fly-In 4 times!

Bill Hay

Host of I’m Speaking Plainly
Saturdays @ 3P-6P
E-mail: bill@600wbob.com

Bill is part of a long list of family members who have made Jacksonville their home. In fact, his current residence was built by his grandfather in 1899. Bill’s father is credited as one of the longest serving employees in Jacksonville’s history; with 60 years as an engineer in the Public Works Department. This gave Bill a unique opportunity as a young man to see government in action and to meet, first hand, the forefathers of our consolidated city.

After graduating from Sandalwood High School, Bill left Jacksonville to attend college at The Florida Institute of Technology and pursue a career as an Engineer. Hired by Lockheed Aerospace Corp. as a Systems Integration Engineer, Bill was hands on with many of the Ground Support Systems for the Space Shuttle program. Bill eventually formed his own corporation to consult to NASA on ground support equipment, Skypro Aviation Industries, at which he is still CEO.

Not wanting to be far from Jacksonville, he returned here to the family home in 2001 and plans to remain here for the foreseeable future. He has since opened two other businesses; Skypro Tree and Skypro Executive Air.

Bill is a member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and The Helicopter Association International.  Philip Pent

Philip Pent

Ransomed Radio
Saturday 6PM-7PM
Website: www.ransomedradio.com

Philip Pent was born in Jacksonville, Florida in the late 20th century during the great milk depression of ’73. Through great hardship, full of overcoming things and great odds, he continued his life well past his younger years.

Although deeply mired in regularity and mediocrity, Philip made his way through school to graduate in the exact middle of his class with a immoveable “C” average. During this time many of his peers and teachers almost noticed that he had moved away to start a career of ditch digging in Orlando, Fl.

His friend, Shawn called him six months later and said, “You live where? When did this happen? Anyway, let me know if you come back into town, we’ll get a burger or something.”

Some time went by and a degree in Philosophy seemed the right choice for Philip, so he sort of applied himself to it and found himself with a diploma on a fancy white piece of paper, with fancy writing on it, and thousands of dollars in debt.

While in debt, Philip decided to get married and have 2 kids and now his credit cards have been turned off and the banks have been notified. His wife is anything but average so Philip spends as much money as possible anytime he can to assure her of his love.

Now, Philip Pent lives in St. Augustine, Florida and is firmly moving ahead in his life 24 hours at a time.
